Atura’s day hikes give you a new perspective on the place in which you live or if visiting, seeing the beauty of our area for the first time. Each hike is tailored towards active novices and varies in difficulty and length. Mountain vistas or coastal viewpoints are common, so be sure to bring a camera, light hikers, sun glasses and appropriate layers of clothing for the possible weather we may encounter. Each day hike begins with complimentary coffee, tea, water and pastries and a box lunch.
Scheduled Hikes: Sauk Mountain:
A premier North Cascades Destination: Sauk Mountain will take you high above the rumble of the world below to an accessibly remote perch in the North Cascades. Join us for this amazing hike and experience the beauty of the Northwest high country with guides that will point out geological and habitat highlights along the way.
Ability Level – beginner – experience
Difficulty Level – Moderately Aggressive
Elevation Gain +/- 1,200 Feet
Total Elevation: 4,300 Feet
Time: Day Hike – 8-10 Hours

Fragrance Lake:
Experience a hike in the only coastal foothills of the North Cascade Mountains. Fragrance Lake is just minutes from town but it is worlds away from the day to day. Old Growth cedars and Douglas fir line the steep path up with sandstone outcroppings and possible wildlife sightings everywhere.

Elevation Gain +/- 920 Feet
Total Elevation: 1040 Feet
Time: 3 hours

Ride Your Bike 101:
Remember that first feeling of freedom you felt when you conquered riding on two wheels? Have you noticed that quite a few people in our community seem to still be finding that same feeling on our local trails and road ways? You know you can still do it….it just takes a little practice and encouragement from our friendly staff and this bike clinic is perfect for you.
Atura’s Bike 101 course will have you taking your old bike off the wall or out of the garage and dust it off. If you don’t have a bike and will still like to ride, no problem. Atura rent bikes that are perfectly tailored for you and your riding ability. This easy-going course will guide you through the basics of getting back on the bike, show you some great places to ride, and will even help you choose the bike that best fits you. Our exclusive partnerships with local bike shops and knowledgeable staff will be right there with you. Join us and regain that feeling of freedom on two wheels all over again!!

Perfect Day Hike:
Did you know that Whatcom County is noted to as the day hike capital of the world? OK, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but it’s pretty darn close. Bellingham rests in a unique geological area of the Pacific Northwest where the Chuckanut foot hills rapidly rise up from the sea creating the only coastal foothill of their kind. They offer great day hikes to outstanding destination with spectacular vistas and views of both the San Juan Islands and the Cascade Mountain Range. They’re easy to access and easy to plan for and we’ll show you how and where to go!
You’ll need light hikers, a small back pack, sun glasses and layers of clothing for the possible weather we might encounter. We’ll provide you with nutritious complimentary snacks and water to keep your body moving as well as a box lunch. You’ll experience some of our favorite trails; know the best times to hike them, and some natural history to boot! Join us for this one day class that will take your breath away.

Our Urban Trails (O.U.T. Clinic):
If you’ve lived in Bellingham for years or visiting us for the first time, you may have noticed the many trails, parks and people taking advantage of them. Bellingham has over 85 miles of urban trails that connect neighborhoods, parks and the community-at-large. They are a great way to get to work or to plan out a Saturday afternoon with the kids.
This course will give you some tips on how to best utilize these trails, how to connect them to get from one part of town to another and a bit of history on our greenways. Join us and learn a new side of the ‘Ham that you may not have known but will surely enjoy utilizing!
