ABOUT | Exploring Challenges through Experiential Learning
At Atura Recreation, we believe the best way to rejuvenate, refresh, and regain perspective in our daily lives is through the energy of play and being outside is the best place to do this.
Atura Recreation’s innovative “team-building” program, EXCEL, integrates the energy of play and recreation through experiential learning that cultivates camaraderie and cohesiveness. Our program leads groups through different challenges, enabling staff at all corporate levels to work as true team players. Structured activities not only encourage individual development, but bring all members together for a common goal.
“The staff of Atura Recreation was prepared and professional. They created a warm, safe and friendly environment where everyone felt comfortable participating. We need retreats like this more often!”

What is team building?
Team building is an active process in which a group of individuals with a common purpose are focused and aligned to achieve a specific task or set of outcomes. It increases the ability of a group to work together as a team by identifying strengths and areas for improvement. It creates a sense of belonging and ownership among team members in a fun, invigorating environment that can be transferred back into the workplace.
Team building can be achieved by a variety of methods and approaches to help a group clarify and review their purpose and objectives. It is a high-impact learning experience that will:
• improve morale and leadership skills
• clearly define objectives and goals
• improve communication
• identify strengths and weaknesses
• improve problem-solving capabilities |
Better problem solving skills means better efficiency in general, which tends to boost morale and productivity. The ultimate goal is to bring out the best in individuals and together become an effective team.
At Atura Recreation we find that taking people out of a traditional classroom setting helps break down political and personal barriers, eliminate distractions, and ultimately, is more fun for everyone.
